Need advice for system- lexus GS 400

Hey guys,

Major NOOB here.

Setting up a system in my 98 GS400 sedan. I already have a Pioneer Z1 has my head unit, and a JL 10W6 for the sub. My goals are to have a good sounding system, but nothing competition worthy. Just good sound all the way around. I have a JL amp pushing the sub as well.

Whats left is obviously the highs and mids. Going components (thinking Focal, MB quarts, something nice, but won't break the bank) and will pick up another JL 4 channel to push them to continue with the theme (unless you guys suggest something completely different.)

Basically, I bought the Z1 the amp and sub off a friend for a stupid price, so I figured I might as well finish out the whole system now. Should I stay with the JL 10w6 or sell it and move on to something else. is 1 10 enough?? I'm really a noob here guys.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, is dynomat really necessary or more just an added luxury? If I'm not a highly experienced car audio guru will I notice the difference?? Thanks again!

Is it a w6v1 or w6v2. What kind of box is it in? If you need more output you can always put it in a well built ported box tuned to 28Hz - 32Hz for good sound quality.

if you got the system for a good price...i say might as well keep it...if your not satisfied with the bass...and don't wanna break the bank....if you don't already have a custom spec box made for the sub...i suggest you do...jlaudio.com has the specs on their website for your subwoofer....sealed and ported...as far as mids and highs...it all really depends on your budget...the brands that you listed down are good brands but i suggest you do a little research online to see what model/series components you can afford with the brands you listed down...and if you can afford to put dynamat or any kind of sound deadener i suggest you do....again research online will do a lot when picking a brand for sound deadener...(someone posted up a link on general discussions to a very good sound deadener challenge....with different brands tested....take a look).....hope this helped a little....peace
