Need ADVICE dealing with "company" warranty

The situation is I purchased a 3000ish ~ Sub amp and when I got it I hooked it up after just removing my Sundown 1500 that was hooked up to the same setup. Nothing changed except the amp laying in my trunk while my car is parked in my garage. I hook the amp up, get in my car turn the key my deck comes on, i press play, then theres a single thump, and the amp is in protect. I open it up and sure enough something is blown, I am unaware what part. I call the company and ask what could be going on. They tell me to package the amp and send it back. I do so promptly, I get in touch once with the owner and I ask what the situation is, he says they need to test it or figure out what was wrong. He says there will be a thread or something that I will see? Very vague. Two months later I call back and ask what the situation is again he asks my name and number and tells me he will call me back.?
