Need a Sub for Trance/Electronic Music!

Right now I have an Alpine Type R 12" (SWR-1242D) in a sealed box powered by my Kenwood kac-9152d. My amp gave out on me a while ago so now I'm looking to get a new setup altogether.

My type r was pretty good at playing my trance songs but I want something with more precision and power. The type r is great for rap music though, can't complain about that.

What kind of subs are good for trance/electronic/techno music? I'm looking to spend about $200 for a nice sub, maybe even a pair. Any suggestions? I will find an amp to power the sub later on.

uhmm... all music plays the same thru all subs. There is no perfect sub for whatever music your listening to. That type R should do perfect for you from rap to infected mushroom. If its not doing it for you, your box or power might be lacking.

if you liked the type r in a sealed box....you should try the type X

i know its probably out of the question as far as money goes, but my 12w7 sealed 1.2 cubes off a 1000/1 sounded very VERY nice tight and loud.. so did my buddys eclipse Ti

Get another amp, plenty bigger and then experiment with different box sizes with the Type R.

Or check out a type X.

I used to have the Kenwood KAC-9152D which put out 500w RMS @ 4ohms. It bumped real nice. What kind of amp should I go with this time?
