Need a program to scan pages and type on them! what to get?

Well, im doing scholarship applications, and wanted to get th em out of the way before this weekend. I also want to type everything onto the application instead of write it, so i was going to scan the pages (which i did) and use adobe to write it up. I went to download the trial version, and now it refuses to install (just freezes up after a certain point and doesnt finish).

are there any other programs that will do the same thing as adobe acrobat that i can get for free? or just a trial version for a few days even?

Prnt screen, start>programs>accessories>paint>CTRL + V> CTRL + S

i tried to download the 30 day trial version like 5 times, but each time the setup freezes after a few percent

i only need it for like 2 scholarship applications lol, but the download setup wont work. im trying otn my other computer now to see if it will download right on that puter, to figure out if its my puter or if its the download
