Need a new sub

the PGRSDC 12" is not liking a ported box at all, too much inward stroke.

So, im looking for a sub thats

i dont want pure SPL, i want some quality but i would like it to get strong and loud as well. (dont we all)

I was thinking Mach 5 IXL but i have never heard one, what do you guys think?

Hmm, i loaded up a Mach 5 Audio ixl 12.2.2 into winISD and its showing that my RSDC has a more flat response and actually out performs it????

whats up with that?

RE Se 12, or used FIQ. If you can find a SI Mag gen 1-3

If you wanna try out an Alpine Type X 10'' I got one for 150. It's an SQ sub that can also get loud. 1000RMS.

RE SE sounds good and pounds, but has a slightly lower RMS than the Q, about 600. I gave mine 750 and it took it like a champ and sounded great , its also a lot cheaper. New they are around $150-165 on Ebay shipped for a new 12. Q is slightly more, but worth it if your going near 1000 watts. I have owned both and have been happy.

Hmm, well i know the Q is nice, i am trying to avoid getting it for this car. the RSDC i have right now is rated 600w rms but it cant take that in this ported box, too much inward stroke. I need something that will rival the Q in sql @ 1000w but under 200.

This RSDC actually watt for watt outperforms the Q 100%, i have a Q for the nice car and a RSDC for the everyday car and i must say that the RSDC is EXTREMELY efficient, just doesnt work well with a BIG BOX and lots of powa..

is there a reason y you say you always buy new? and if you build a new box.....wow a miracle happens your current sub can take the power....and if u always buy new you'll know that an FI Q 12 is 244....

yea, which is why the fi Q is not an option for me, i dont want it, i already have one.

The problem is: The RSDC's spider has been weakened by the use in the ported box, once upon a time it had zero problems, then slowly it started having more and more excursion, and now it has a problem, so i have to turn the power down from what it once was.

building a new box would only temporarily fix the problem, i am looking for a permanent solution.

Spend an extra $50 and get yourself a 12" Mag v4, it can handle that type of power.

I heard a lot about them, are they good for SQL and ported boxes?

I really like the design of the mag v3 vs the new one :|

They are very good subs, but your gona have to ditch that ported box, the Mag v4 is made especially for sealed enclosures with a 1 cubic foot requirment, I think a new box is a small price to pay for what you need and want though.

Plus I doubt you will find hardly anyone that is going to give up their v3 considering you can not not buy them new anymore since the introduction of the new Magv4

New SI mag is going to cost you just as much if not more than an FI Q....so unless you want to buy the rsd again you may have to buy used....
