Need a new laptop!

Im in the search for a new laptop for college. I don't want to spend more that $2500, but want something that will performa nd last. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to computers, so thats where yall come in. I want something that will be able to multitask, will be able to load programs very quickly, and will have a lot of memory, as well as a nice processor (don't know whats the new standard). The bigger the hard drive the better and i want to keep weight to a mininum, but i want a nice screen.

What do yall think? I'm not a gamer or anything, but I will be watching dvd's and such on it.

Macbook pro with 2 gigs of RAM and a 160GB HD. 3 Year Applecare warranty. $2623 retail, and since you're a student they also give a student discount that should get you below the $2500 mark. And you can dual boot it to either Mac OSX or Windows via bootcamp or Parrallels.

what about this it's got a HD screne and plays HD DVD. don't know if its worth the price difference though.

What's the deal with the different processors? I hear the core duo or whatever is good, but why do some of them have different Ghz numbers? Is the bigger number the better?
