I think the HD315 was like $300+ dont quote me on that but i think it was...The HD315 from what i have read is like a DD9515 without the cooling, and a tad bit less motor strength...I have heard them both and honestly the HD3 gets louder on the same amount of power in similar enclosures..But im not sure why one is more sought after then the other..Havent noticed that

HDC315 is the HD315 with Chinese parts and supposedly a little louder but i ran the HD315 and loved it.

not a step up or down, just an improvement of a sub already in production, from what i can remember the upgrades where a flat-wound aluminum coil, 12-spoke basket with better cooling, a beveled pole piece, multiple spiders, stiffer cone and a triple-stacked motor, but im pretty sure power handling, and rec enclosures where similar
