Nascar Renames Cup ... again

I didn't even know Michigan participated in this crap. Once you get outside of Detroit, it's all republican rednecks here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
is california part of this redneck south?

Dover maryland?

And you call me a dumb redneck? At least when I don't know something I don't act like I do.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It's still behind NFL, MLB, and the NBA. Besides all their shindigs take place in the south.
how do you figure, every race is sold out and like I said before avg seating is 180K ppl @ 125 a tix. Maybe salary wise, but from endorsements and purse winnings the drivers do very very well.

The revenue that each league generates. NBA stadiums are filled around the country nightly, not to mention there are 30+ markets, and more national exposure. Revenue doesn't come just from ticket sales. TV deals is what generates the most money. That is why New York will always generate the most revenue, even if their ticket prices are lower then most.

You go to any bar in Michigan, and you will see Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, Lions, Wolverines, Spartans, Shock before you will see NASCAR.

From Forbes

But there are plenty of signs of bluer skies ahead. Teams that successfully leverage drivers and cars to deliver value for sponsors can make a tidy profit. Despite soaring costs, the average NASCAR team banks $12.3 million in profits, or roughly 15% of revenue. That compares with $16.5 million and less than 10% for teams in Major League Baseball.
4 million difference in the 2, and gap is narrowing each year

Ummm, think I would have disagree with that statement there bro - filled nightly, depends on who is playing and where. I've been to a few Wizards games and the stadium was at max 60% full and just because it is on tv doesn't mean everyone is watching it either. Nascar runs for 36 weeks, Fox CBS and ESPN fight for coverage of the races and believe me they pay a pretty penny for it, more than say a regular season football game. In football, baseball and nba - if your team is struggeling you will find the stadiums 50% full, in Nascar it doesn't matter the track is always full of fans.
