Narrowed it down, now help with the rest

The Alpines are very musical. Not a lot of output, but they just sound good. The ring-dome tweeter in the Type-X is nothing like what you'd find in any other Alpine speaker. Very smooth, very nice.

Of all of them, I'd go with the Alpine. It isn't a "wow" kinda speaker, it just sounds right. If you like a brighter tweeter, you might prefer the Focal. To me, it's just overbearing, though.

Can't speak for Rainbow, because I've never heard them. They do have quite a reputation, however.

What rainbow series is equivelant to the Focal 165KFs or 165KPs ??

Seems like everyone on here likes the Soundline SLC265.02's (289.95) or the Geranium CS265.25G's (409.95). Is that a correct assumption?

Looks like they both have the same power handling of 100watts nominal / 150watts max... so whats the main difference between the two?

Also, what amp would be ideal for eitehr set of these? Today a salesman told me that he has the Alpine MRV-F545 and that it is way overrated and that it probably only puts out 75w x 4. Is there any truth to this?

OH!!..I listen to Rap, Dance, Dave mathews, Old Rock, panic at the disco, etc. What would be the best for that kind of music?

i like the mcsq's personally the mid is rather forgiving to what you install them in and the tweeter isnt harsh at all. a buddy of mine has them in kick panels of his focus.

This is funny. I have the Pro 60's but when I compared them to the Focal 165KF's at the Local Tweeter I thought the Focal's blew them away. I much fuller sound . The other thing is that the Pro 60's require a lot of power ( I think they want 125rms) and I am underpowering them at about 80RMS which is the sweet spot for the Focal's . I am thinking about getting the Focals next year. Did you decide on anythinkg yet?

Just keep in mind that, depending on how you aim them, the Focal tweeter will sound brighter in a car than in a board. That goes for all tweeters, really. Because of this, I generally find metal-dome tweeter irritating. But go with your ear and take what you think sounds best.
