orions are pretty hard to beat for the money

seems like there's no smooth transition, you go from spending $500-600 for 2500 solid watts to spending $900-1200 for 4-5k watts

there isn't much that's slightly better, you gotta jump to the big boys

 
A "better" amp to me possesses the following traits.

1. Build Quality

2. Reliability

3. Low Distortion

4. Warranty

5. Flexibility

With all that being assumed then you find one that has all these qualities and has the power ratings you need and you have a BETTER amp.
