Why are the subs angled toward the back window?

One would assume that the bass and low end reproduction will be enhanced when loaded in a manner like that, as the bass waves have more surfaces to bounce off of.

thanks bro!! yea that was my original plan was to have a down fireing box and then the angle twords the front and use that has the amp rack. i decided not to and then this is where i am now. i need that amp so i can get started on cleaning it up and making it look all purty!!
