My subs seem to be hitting slightly late...

Do you have a large vehicle?Did you mess with DSP?You can adjust to compensate for the speaker's distance with some head units.

It's a Ford Escape and the two subs are facing frontwards. Maybe I should try facing them upward....I don't really want to face them backward because the box is so big and it would be so close to the trunk door that there would be too much rattling.

Since the subs are a fair amount farther then your components, there is an apparent pause between the time it should hit and by the time it reaches your ear. Very slight and can be fixed with time alignment...

fire your subs towards the roof, if it doesn't help the lag of the woofers, it will probably help with output.

firing them to the rear might GREATLY increase the output if that matters to you at all
