My Sub & Amp Will Over Power My Speakers???

Ok, so a couple people told me if i buy a sub and amp, i will overpower my speakers because they are powered by my HU. So...how should i power my speakers?? Keep in mind I'm not trying to go all out, just enough for a little thump. specs = RECIEVER = (Spec = 45 watts peak power (16 watts RMS) x 4; Micro Dynamics high-power amplifier). SPEAKERS = TWO Pioneer & 5 1/4 speakers (G Series) AND TWO 6.5" G Series
