Ok so I short this amp the other day supposidly I dont know how I did it, but I am getting a new one under warranty.

The speaker that were powerd by this baby were MTX Thunder 6000 250WATTS RMS each. Do you think this amp was way to big for it? On the birth certificate it said it had 611 WATTS RMS.

Anyways for new subs I am thinking of going with ALPINE TYPE S 2 of them (10inch) Do you think these subs will be ok under the condition of this amp?

The amp you have would be too much for the MTX 6000 series if you didn't set your gains correctly. However, the S series is a good sub, very comparable to your 6000 series MTX's. The only thing I would mention is that for only a little more (something like 30 bucks more) you can easily get a set of type R's, and they are very rugged. If you talk to some people on here they will argue that they are one of the best value subs on the market.

I personally would look into thoes Type R's.

The place I am buying my subs at are giving me a pretty good deal for the type S 139.99 for 2 Type S and that includes in store warranty no question asks and free installation..

But I will see when I get my amp back and I give the guy a call if he can give me a deal like he did with the type S.

But the my real question is, will my XENON AMP be able to push everything out of the type R subs? being that there both 500WATTS RMS?

No, not hardly. On here almost everyone gives them like between 800 - 1000 watts each. I was just saying that they will be better for just a little more money. and not to mention if you want to upgrade y our amp later in life you will have subs that will take a lot - o - watts.

I have seen some great installs with thoes s-types though. If you get last year's model they should be cheap, because alpine decided to make them shallow mount subs instead of just middle line.

Why does everyone rate them so high in RMS watts? on my birth certificate it says 611.. Do some people just get lucky and get a lot more wattage then its suppose to?

Each sub will only get 300W RMS each...
I believe the way the xenon is set up each sub will receive 600RMS as the two speaker outs on the mono xenon amps is internally paralleled. Also newjacksm my PG 600.1 says 613 on the birth certificate so from what I've seen on these amps you are in the ballpark with 611.

WHATT? 600watts per speaker?! I thought all around it was 600watts... and they would split off into 2 being 300watts rms.

wow... I did get a big amp! ha.. No wonder I fryed one of my subs...

I would of blown my Alpine type S too...

No. Xenon 600.1 puts out 600 watts. The only way to get 600 watts each is to get the xenon 1200.1

The beauty of the Xenon series is that you get the same power from 1-4 ohm, so you can run any sub without worrying about losing power based on VC configuration.

And why not try 1 type R in a good box? I bet it would sound as good and at least as loud as 2 type S sealed.

You believe wrong..

That would be 1200 W if each sub had 600 W...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

The birthsheet with your Xenon is the small white card? They're known to do around 800+ W. Some came with the actual full-page birthsheets showing actual power. Others came with the little white one, like mine. (632 W) Disregard your 611 W birthsheet. Your amp is actually 800+ Wrms.

Mine only came with one sheet and no graph... I did mess around with the gains a lot on my amp Sens / Sub / Bass that probably def raised the amp wattage output..

But still never got a second amp, and still really dont know about this whole 800watt thing

I am just confused how people come to this conclusion.. it makes me just want to get the two type rs now instead of the the type s because all that power for the type s i will still probably blow something.

Each speaker is a resistor so if you run one 4 OHM speaker it puts out 600 watts to it, if you run one 1 OHM speaker gets 600 watts in theory with the xenon technology. So if you have two 4 ohm speakers wired in parallel the xenon sees a single 2 OHM load and gives 600 watts to the 2 ohm load now being 2 subs the amp does not know how many speakers are out there it always puts out 600 watts to whatever ohm load it sees could be 4 4 OHM speakers wired in parallel still 600 watts to each.

sarc22 - no.

you are right, the amp doesnt know or care how many speakers it sees. What it does do, is put out a consistant ammount of power at 1-4 ohms. not per speaker, not per ohm, that is the total ammount of power it puts out, period.

if you have 4 speakers, regardless of load from 1-4 ohm, they will each get 150 watts.

Otherwise, EVERY person in car audio would be running xenon amps. Can you immagine a 400 dollar amp that can put 1200 watts to ANY number of subs in the world, so long as you wired em to the correct ohm load? not possible.
