The Antioch middle school teacher charged with several counts of possessing child *********** told police he has had *** with dozens of young boys over the years, though police have not been able to confirm his claims.
Kenneth Lee Johnson, 60, of 450 N. Main St., No. 407, Wauconda, told arresting officers he has sexually abused 75 boys in Illinois and Washington dating back to 1974.
The majority of those boys lived around Antioch and Wacuonda at the time of the supposed attacks, said Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, whose office officially announced Johnson’s arrest Monday morning.
Johnson was charged last week with 10 counts of possession child ***********, following an FBI tip, Curran said. When investigators questioned him he admitted to the crimes and police found more than 1,000 images and close to a 100 videos depicting boys as young as two-years-old engaging in *** acts.
“It’s gross stuff. We’re talking about anal intercourse with babies and stuff,” Curran said.
It is not believed that Johnson manufactured the ****.
He was fired Wednesday from Antioch Upper Grade School, where he’s taught social studies since 1989. Superintendent Scott Thompson said he never had reason to believe Johnson was acting inappropriately.
“There’s nothing in his background that would have us be suspicious,” Thompson said.
Curran said police are now trying to figure out if Johnson’s claims of ****** abuse are true, or whether he’s just relaying fantasies to them. A number of the boys he claims to have abused denied the contact, Curran said.
No one has corroborated his claim, though police have not spoken yet spoken to every former student he claimed to abuse. Anyone with information on Johnson is asked to contact the Sheriff Office’s Criminal Investigation Division at (847) 377-4250.
