My New Deck - Alpine CDA-9853

Well, as some of you known, I received an Eclipse CD8053 as a trade for my Alpine CDA-9831 deck. However, long story short, the Eclipse deck was locked because of the ESN Security feature so I am sending it back tomorrow. Besides, I never shipped out my Alpine anyway.

Anyway, I was reinstalling my CDA-9831 yesterday and for some strange reason the deck didn't want to power up. I double checked everything and nothing (wired were right and the fuses are fine). So, earlier I went to SoundAdvice and was looking to get my deck repaired. But, I remembered that I had the extra warranty on it. So, I was able to replace it with an equal value deck. I was going to pay the difference and get a NIB CDA-9835 (they wanted $410). However, I saw the CDA-9853 on display and it seemed kinda cool. So, I got it for an even up trade!

I will take pics later. BTW, the only draw back I see (without looking into the manual) is that fact that the deck doesn't have 4V outputs... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Also, the new decks now have the old locks on the cages. Remember, when you needed a tool to remove decks? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well, I finally got around to installing the CDA9853 deck. IMO, it's a lot better than the 9831 was! The SQ is unbelievable even from 2V outputs! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Here are a few quick shots. Again, this was a quick install so it doesn't look the best. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

All in all, I am happy with this deck. The only trouble I had, was getting use to the Glide Touch to search for things...

cant hotlink from car\sound domain i didnt think =|

but that first shot of the alpine sure looks like an eclipse deck - lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

yeah, I forgot to mention that the first pic of the deck, was the Eclipse CD8053 that I have been trying to unlock. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I want a NIB 9835 for $410... stupid small towns //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Touchscreen... no. GlideTouch panel... yes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i messed with the glide touch thing for a few minutes.. some may like it.. but personally.. i hate the shit out of it... doesnt feel right at all. not sensitive enough and i believe over time it would begin to have problems...

just my 2 cents...9835 will be the last thing for me for awhile if they keep with the glide touch

Uh, no. This wasn't a small town. LOL. This is the big SoundAdvice in North Palm Beach in PGA. In other words, high price because their are some rich mofo's there. LOL!

I go in there because most prices are the same as others but their clearance prices are usually more. Besides, they do have a larger selection being that it's a larger store. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Too bad you couldn't get the 8053 to work. Very nice deck.

Okay, some of ya'll have been PM'ing me and Emailing me about the Touch Glide bar. So, here is a quick video of the feature. Sorry, it isn't the best picture. Here it is........

Thanks again to Shon from ROE. His site is much better than WooferVids. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
