My new Computer!

My $.02? What are you going to be doiing with this thing? You can drop a step in proc and cut your RAM in half and still have a butt kicking system with at least $300 more in your pocket or to spend else where.

However is you do alot of video, audio or image editing or just want a gaming system built for the future, the 3500+ and 2 gigs will come in handy. I like your choice in mobo also. If you ever decide to drop in an 64 FX series, you're good to go.

I'm a ATI fan, but I'd definatly say get the 6800 over the 9800. I don't think you'll see much difference between the GT and the Ultra except a few frames and $100. With decent cooling you can OC to Ultra clock speeds anyway. The GT has got to be the best buy in vid cards right now.

You see I'm all about not paying premium (latest thing) prices but stil getting close to it's performance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Gaming.... the game I play requires alot of ram... thus the reason why Im going with 2 gigs of ram.

This is going to be a straight gaming computer. I ended up dropping the sound card as its not super important as ram is to me. I can live with on board sound.... until funds are more readily avaiable to get a SC.

If you plan on overclocking at all or running for long periods of time while stressing the compy, i might suggest getting a water cooling kit from a respectable source such as frozencpu.com, and they can be had for around $300. water-cooling does wonders for gaming compys, and you can get blocks for the video card and chipset as well. contrary to popular belief, if you set it up right, you won't have any problems with water leaking.

have you thought about RAIDing?
Ummm ya raiding one hard drive?

Im only starting out with 1 Hard drive right now because I dont need another right now, as all there will be on this computer is Games Games and Games, no MS office or anything like that.

Just games

I will later be adding dual Raptors most likely along with other things

I'm a competitive gamer with a FX5950 Ultra and 1GB Dual Channel PC3200 ram.

If you buy good ram, theres no reason for 2GB, even on WoW. Just make sures is DDR2 or dual-channel. You could step down that processor a lot and not know the difference.
