My new Computer!

Well for christmas I was given some money to start building my new gaming computer. I've been looking for a while and I basically know what I want but I want your guys opinions. My budget is roughly around 1500-1700$... and I think I might have pulled out a nice little system. Some things on here will be able to be upgraded with extra stuff(ex: Hard drives) later, but this list is just what i need to get up and going. Please critque to your guys views, adding, subtracting things that would be better etc. Please all advice is helpful as I am about to purchase alot of this stuff.

Computer:

AMD 3500+

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-103-463&depa=1

Mobo:

MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM- AMD

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-130-468&depa=1

Case:

ASPIRE X-Infinity

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-144-076&depa=1

Ram:

OCZ Dual Channel 2GB

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-146-970&depa=1

Hard Drive:

Seagate 160GB 7200RPM SATA

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-148-038&depa=1

CD/Dvd Rom

SAMSUNG 16X DVD Drive Black

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-151-208&depa=1

Video Card:

BFG nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-143-021&depa=1

On the Video card I'm debating whether or not to go Ultra or GT. Will I notice that much difference?

Im debating between these four video cards:

BFG nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-143-021&depa=1

BFG nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-143-019&depa=1

eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800GT

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProdu...-130-203&depa=1

eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...-130-196&depa=1

Am I going to notice that much difference besides price? If im not going to notice that much difference performance wise I may just go with the eVGA GT as its cheaper, but what do you guys think?

Well there it is. I didnt list a sound card, as I will just use the on board sound for now, and upgrade later when more funds are avaiable. Obviously like I stated before theres some things that will be upgraded or added later, like Hard drives, more ram, etc. I choose a plan dvd/cd rom because on my other computer i have my burner and as this will be a gaming computer I see no use for the burner.

Now along with your guys insight can you help me with what else I am going to need, for instance cable wise, cooling wise, and everything else that reqs the computer to run besides programs.

Please help critque this computer, as I want the best bang for my buck.

Thank you very much guys.

u prolly wont notice the dif unless ur an EXTREME gamer
Thats what I was thinking.... Im not an EXTREME gamer but i am a gamer... i'll probably end up going with the 399$ GT... but also depends on cash.. if i have a bit more money i may just go with the ultra.

I'd downgrade some of that shiznit.

It's like your asking to waste your money.

What people don't understand is that you don't have to spend ALL of your money.

I am a firm believer in "if its worth doing, its worth doing right" but that PC looks uneccesary!!$)@I$

Good choices !!! Buh if i was you id get a 6800 gt..Ultra in my eyes is a waste of money..You wont notice a diffrence between the 2, stay away from pny 6800 gt or ultra there fans die out, stick with bfg evga gigabyte leadtek. O btw i own a 200 gig seagate hd and it soooooo quite, i luv it buh mine tends to get hot, id advise a hard drive cooler to extend its life. Other then that great mother board choice, i own the older neo's (very stable,n they overclock by them self's)

screw it, get a 9800 pro for around $200 and save yourself the money. i bought mine for $220 off newegg, works like a charm. and yes of course there are better cards out there now, x800 platinum and the x850 and whatnot, but that doesn't mean the "lower end" cards are shit. the 9800 pro was top of the line a year ago, and games now aren't that much advanced (except for doom3) that you'll see a dramatic decrease in graphic quality. and even still, i've played doom 3 with my 9800 pro and it worked fine. sure i couldn't turn the graphics up all the way but it still looked sweet and played at 60fps. also, you really don't need 2gb of ram. 1gb would suffice perfectly fine and be a lot cheaper. hell i use 512mb ram and i've been able to play every game perfectly fine, mine isn't even dual channel

everything looks good to me kid. just make sure you dont cheese out on the powersupply or you wont be able to overclock anyway. its like having a good alternator in the car. you know the deal. low voltage = unstable.

anywho, just get a nice chunky heatsink, none of the thermaltake shit - they moved to asthetics a long time ago, they are the audiobahn of the computer world. take a look at the swiftech line of heatsinks, i got the orgional swiftech MCX-462, and im OC'd 200mhz and im at 37 degrees. most people are nigh on 45 or 50 at load when NOT over clocked max of 40 for me.

then just make sure there is adiquet airflow through the case, and make sure the cables are tidy so the air CAN flow =P

check these sites for a bit more info-

http://www.bit-tech.com (forums are so incredible)

http://www.tomshardware.com (great reviews)

http://www.hardocp.com (tons of overclocking\pc info)

that should get you started... but check for reviews of the geforce6800 cards on those sites, and whatever they give higher ratings, thats what id recommend. they benchtest lots of stuff.

The reason why Im going with 2gigs of ram is be the game I play, World of Warcraft, is very ram effiecent, and since I am not going to get a sound card and using the onboard sound Im just going to go with 2 gigs of ram.

Req... I know i need to find a better case and PSU... I think i may have found some but Im still looking... People keep telling me to look into Lian Li but there to expensive for a case. I think I may just go with a coolmaster case with a enermax PSU or something along those lines... also going to look into the heatsink you suggested.

Im on the "Kil'Jadaen" Pacific Server. Im playing with 256ram right now lol. You need at least a gig to have it working nice... so 2 gigs will be nicer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
