It was no hotter at 4 ohms than at 1, it just managed to heat up faster at 4 ohms. Truth be told, it kind of goes against everything I ever learned regarding power amplifiers. At 4 ohms it is further away from a theoretical short, drawing less current, and outputting less power, yet it warms up faster.
I need to repeat the test though because I am thinking that my ground may have been the culprit as to why it heated up faster at 4. Another theory offered by one of my tech buddies was that the amplifier VI limits itself more at 1 ohm than 4 ohms, but I am not really buying that explanation either.
