my last thread(if i get proof)

I would say your sig is a prime example...
"sounded like ****"

Hey, let me spend my hard earned money on something thats going to sound like a donkey sharting! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
not only that, but im willing to bet that he could have removed alot of the speakers and scored higher lol. figured out which speakers were peaking, remove the others and feed them more power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i also dont know that i would personally brag about a 130 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Not to mention, 130db ain't sh!t....single 10" daily driver setups can hit that.
yeah but in all undersized boxes, with a single 500 watts it ain't horrible... not to mention it was well above 130 thats just how high the meter from radio shack would go... if i had to guess i'd say at least 135-140

well ther is no getting around the fact that different sizes on the same amp will sound like **** but thats not what i'm planning on doing
It's not that multiple sized sub setups sound bad, it's that multiple sized su setups PLAYING THE SAME FREQUENCY RANGE sounds bad. If you're going to have a couple 8's playing 60hz-120hz, and an 18 playing 60hz down, then go for it.

Those 8s would be doing midbass duty, they would be better suited in the front...

It's just superfluous.

Run a DEDICATED MIDBASS if you want, that will blend well with a subwoofer.

Two different sized subwoofers is IGNORANT.

why would you want to have 120Hz coming from behind you? that would stage horribly. the beauty of sub bass is that from roughly 70Hz down (most purist say 62Hz, but its still mostly true up to about 80Hz) is omni-directional. meaning that it seems to come from all directions. which translates to "you cant tell where its coming from".

the higher up frequencies, are not so. in fact, the higher the frequency, the more it acts like a beam of sound, and you can literally pinpoint the speakers location.

this is one reason why people say that rear fill is bad, you can tell where the sound is coming from. you would be better off putting the 8"s up front with you, and playing your sub to about 70Hz or so (A.K.A-a traditional set up)

I believe you can do it and have it sound great, but it involves having smaller subs play ONLY higher bass frequencies and larger subs playing only low frequencies. I doubt a typical crossover would be sufficient.

ok yeah this is all true i gott the subs discounted and i already got a crossover network in my sights, just waitin on the amps... any recommendations for pre-built x-overs er do i gotta do it myself?
gotta diy if you want it to sound good. Usually no one does what u want to do because it's just a horrible waste of money but if you're so set on making this work, expect a lot of trial and errors. Get a real time analyzer and get to work.

I never said that the 8's had to be in the back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif :fyi: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif You can easily run a pair of 8's in the kicks of most vehicles....that's what I was referring to.

then they would be acting as mid-basses, and it wouldnt be a multi-sized sub-bass set up, correct?

read the rest of my post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'm tired of hearing trash about how impractical or stupid a multisize sub setup is so can anyone give me proof it won't work?
I offered to do real-life testing for it. Either accept that or go away.

I still fail to see the point of using several different sized drivers to accomplish what a single driver can on its own.

A single 15 or 12 or 10 or 8 or even a 6.5 can cover the entire range of the sub-bass. 8s aren't faster than 15s, 15s don't play lower than 8s. Get those old fallacies out of your head. The sub-bass range is a whole 2 octaves. In the car pretty much any sub can cover that range, easily. The only difference between a smaller sub and a larger one is output. The bigger one will get louder.

BTW, the upper ranges of the audio spectrum are MUCH harder to tune. But since you think that a sub is so hard to tune, why do you think making it more complex is going to make it better?
