My home car audio install

Because I could care less about clean power when it comes to an all out SPL sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But no way will I run your average PA amp on my speakers...no thanks!
There is nothing wrong with the power produced by the afformentioned behringer or any other PA amp. Why would you assume they produce a lot of distortion? Keep in mind these are full range class H amps (read: class A/B output stage) designed to play music from 20-20khz with less then .5% THD+n

If you don't like the name behringer there are a wide variety of other amps from QSC to Peavy to Crown, depending on how much you want to spend...

Just because they do rated at .5%thd doesn't mean ish. Tube amps have high thd, are you going to tell me they aren't clean? THD isn't everything, or anything for that matter.

As I said before, no PA amp for the money is going to beat the output or sq of my a1200, period.

I'm quite sure a double blind ABX comparison would have you eating your words...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Well I can guarantee that it wouldn't. I have tested over 20 car amps and plenty of home audio amps in the same given test parameters (obviously the car and home audio amps separately), meaning same speakers, wires, source, etc. No attenuation of the bass and/or treble, gain tested all the way down and half way up, and I play short clips of about 50 different songs through them that test every aspect of sound. I have heard some amps that sound similar, but not one of them has sounded the same. I have no personal bias toward any amps, I let my ears do the talking.

Have you tried US AMPS in the home? I have a brax coming in too, going to swap it in and listen to it. What are your opinions?

blah blah blah blah.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I could list off every amp I have tried and how they all compare to eachother if I really wanted to. Notables were the A1200 for the most natural sound, my Earthquake PA-2075 for its ridiculous amounts of headroom and tone, my 1980s Sony XM amps for the most warm tone (as close to tubes as it gets!) and the lowest perceived thd, and...thats it for the top contenders.

I love these!!

I love these!!
Probably my second favorite amps in my collection, behind my Earthquake PA's. I have the big black XM-802, and it's two baby brother niglets as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The guts are very intricate, and include flat square 10,000uf+ capacitors (not a typo). The attenuation is very simple, as is the cosmetics. Total sleepers!
