My home car audio install

3kw in a house is highly unnecessary. A properly built and tuned setup running 300w would blow you away. Home theater setups don't have to overcome road noise therefor less power is needed.
That's what I'm running, and no, that does not blow me away as far as output goes. If you are trying to tell me that 300w on a sub is louder than 3kw on a sub, then I can't help you lol. Sure it's unnecessary, but how necessary is 3kw in a car?

truth be told my pioneer sx-3700 on a pair of cs-99a's were plenty of home audio for me. and my uncle's sansui g33000 on 4 cerwin vega 15" 4 ways was overkill!!!
Plus that pioneer had one of the best phono sections ever made in a receiver .
Those CS-99's are quite efficient, which is probably why. I need to throw 500wpc at my Infinity RS 2.5's to get them barely louder than that haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif If I really wanted to though, I could just throw that power at my two pairs of Technics SB-7000a's...Now THAT would be overkill lol. Two pairs of pretty efficient speakers (95db/w/m, a lil less than the cs-99's), 4 13.5" woofers...yeah, that would be obnoxious

Thats true! Im amazed with how low im running the gains on all my amps. Im running the bigger US AMPS for the damping, but im not nearly using the power they are capable of. Im using IOTA power supplies and have no noise issues with them.

I actually hooked up a USA-50X (80RMS per channel at 4) to some bookshelves and they were slamming on low volume. Im very impressed.

And...they sound like ass unless you can afford an expensive one.
I like how you were talking shit about PA equipment...then get all excited for that Behringer rack amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

You can get an Ep2500 for under $300 new if you look around. They might not do rated, but still gobs of power for the price.

Because I could care less about clean power when it comes to an all out SPL sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But no way will I run your average PA amp on my speakers...no thanks!

.....what? You could care less about clean power................then you say you WON'T run a PA amp because it isn't clean power, lol.

Let me repeat. When it comes to a pure SPL oriented sub, AKA MY ATOMIC APX, I could care less. When I want clean sound for the sub stage, I'll run my M&K plate amp to my Boston G5&GTR combo.

I will not run a PA amp on MY SPEAKERS, meaning either my Infinity Reference Standard 2.5's or my Technics SB-7000a's. Maybe I'll run PA power to some of my other speakers, but no way are they going to consume my general listening environment as far as speakers go.
