My highs cut out when the bass drops HARD

AT full volume my speakers will cut out and the sub will keep playing. I know this is horrible for the speakers and amp so I need to fix it.

Neither of the amps go into protect when this happens.

BTW the sub amp is one of the new orion 5000's running at 1 ohm and the component amp is a JL 300/4.

Sometimes it will play at full volume for a while and then cut out, sometiems I will turn it up and it will cut out immediately. Only the component amp though, never the sub amp. And obvoiusly some songs are worse then others depending on how much bass there is because it seems to me like the sub amp is ******* up all the power and not letting the component amp have any.

But it's weird though because even when it cuts out my battery still reads in the 12's and so does the power inputs on the 300/4. The only thing that drops in voltage is the outputs on the 300/4 that run to the speakers, yet the amp is still getting a full 12+ volts.

I have an upgraded alt and a yellow top under the hood. I have 2 runs of 0ga running to the back of my 4runner, 1 power and 1 ground. I don't have the amps grounded in the back anywhere, the grounds just run to a distro which runs back to the yellow top through the 0 ga cable. I have also done the big 3 in 0 ga.

So what the hell could be the problem here? I also have horrible dimming still and that's with an alternator, yellow top, big 3, 0 ga wiring, and only 2 ****ing amplifiers. So what's the deal? Any help would be appreciated let me know what ya got!

im not sure what your problem is but you should not have your ground wire in such a long run like from the back of your 4runner to the front, it is recommended to have it as short as possible somthing like 1~2 feet, try running your ground wire like that and see if that helps

This happened to me in my last setup... couldn't figure it out for so long. I finally decided to rewire the entire system looking for bad wires, and I found it. One of the tweeter connections came loose, and when the bass was loud enough, it rattled the wire away from the connection, causing all the speakers except the subs to cut out. Maybe this is your problem? Hitting larger bumps in the road would do it sometimes, too.

I had an issue similar to this once...but it had nothing to do with the bass. It was more coincidental. My woofer output on the crossover didn't have a solid connection.

The reason I had the ground ran to the back was for a 2nd battery, I just don't have the funds right now unfortunately. I figured running the ground directly back to the battery would be the path with least resistance, but maybe it does just have to be grounded real short like usual. I'll give that a shot and see if it works out.

well if you have any extra wire just leave the present gound and unhook it since you will need it sooner or later and just use some extra wire for the shorter ground and see if it helps or not
