My HCCA caught on fire!

there actually was a box of cleaning supplies that had some sresol cans and stuff which was flamable but it didn't get close to it. I am 100% that the sub was the starting point. The only other burns are of course the carpet above the box and a few rubber drip burns on the carpet under the sub.
any of the cans/ supplies left open? doesnt take much when your trunk is full of gas

Were your speaker leads fused going from the amp to the sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
yes... But the wires are still in great condition except where they got burned. Other wise you couldn't tell the wires were over a month old. Also the sub has been removed and inspected a few times over the years. I think I replaced the wires to a bigger gauge back 3 or so years ago.

I have never reconed a sub before but the one may be beyond repair. However I bet the basket and motor are ok still. So if anyone is interested let me know.
as long as the basket and motor are clean it should be able to recone...if the basket was damaged they are available pretty cheap...the motor is your most valuable part...and it would be a fun project ...plus you can change VC options if needed to fit your application better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i know how it happened //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

the leads are between the 2 spiders and that was what broke on these tc subs built for orion. the lead would break off the tinsel lead because they held it inplace with couple drops of ca glue. it would arch and make sparks, this sub has poly cotton spiders and when wore out after alot of yrs wear thin and are great kindling.

i have reconed alot of these subs that is ALWAYS the failure point.

the basket is scrap and the motor my be worthless too depending how much heat got to it...

because heat makes the mag weak and also cooks the glue that holds the top plate on...

I wouldn't lie would I?

Carnage. That is awesome.

don't really know if it was still hittin on fire, I doubt it. I noticed it quit hittin about 5 min from my house. Wasn't to worried about it and thought I would check it out when I got home. I went to pop the trunk and the electric trunk opener didn't work. I first thought I might have blown a fuse that may have killed my remote wire. Then went to open trunk with key and smelt smoke and felt the heat. It even messed up the paint on my trunk! FML
