I don't think JL makes a bad product, in fact the opposite, just an overpriced one.

The simple thing is this: most people aren't looking for a product like JL. JL is definitely a SQ line of, well, everything they sell. Most people don't want to pay for the absolute attention to detail (SQ wise) that JL puts into a product that should cost less, but that's why they cost so much. But I can't say I argue, I don't buy it either.

It's simply not what is most sought after.

A buddy of mine was at my house over the weekend. We were gonna be messing with his setup which is all jl. Before he came I told him how he could've got better, then he told me how much he paid so I couldn't complain. He asked what I had so I told him "a solo x" he'd never heard it an starting talking isht. He got here heard mine and didn't even wanna put his in. After that he started asking hella questions about what other brands there is. That's just another example of how closed minded people are til they are enlightened. Sorry for the long rant.

That was just one sub that came to mind...like I said, pick any 12" sql sub that is rated for 1k and compare it to a 12w7 in price and performance, and the other sub will almost always come out on top.

I could go on for ages...All of those subs will do what a W7 will do, but better. If the name is what matters, then get the Boston (which also has a unique look, part of the selling factor of a W7).

I'm doing this for the W7, but I could do this for any sub they produce.

I HIGHLY doubt that is true. IIRC, they buy parts from other countries and they get assembled in America.

Ya know JL Audio are good stuff, their 1000/1 is one of the best 1000 watt amp you can buy, plus you know their stuff isn't put together by sweatshops and I rarely hear about quality problems with them. There are tons of threads of people asking whether this brand is any good or if that sub can really handle what it claims but you won't have to worry about that when you buy JL Audio because they've proved their worth - they're the most prominent name in the car audio business so some people buy it for the name for showoff points. A Gucci bag is infinitely better than a bag from Walmart. A Ray Ban sunglasses works just like the $8 no-name from a gas station but you can say you've got Ran Ban vision. $3000 Omega watch tells time like a $10 Casio watch but no self-respecting rich folk would ever want a watch from a company that also makes calculators... you get the idea.

If I was rich and don't know much about car audio then I'd just buy everything JL because everyone knows JL and everyone knows it's expensive. What the hell is Sundown? My son don't have down syndrome. What is Incriminator Audio? Sounds like it's for stupid teenagers. No-name custom subs? What are you poor and can't afford name brands? etc etc...

My friend was upset he spent a grand on a 13.5w7 / 500/1 and a H.O box once he sat in my car with my single 12"fi Q on a old school crunch. That costed me a total of 300 bucks. JL does make good stuff but prices **** ***

the prices are insane when talking abt the car audio but the in home stuff is as insane as the price. and i dont pay anything near that price.
