alright i have this friend he wants loud and low bass. he wants to put 6 12"subs in a honda crx. now my first question.

would 6 12's even fit in that car. also i told him hes probably better off to get 4 15's or 2 18's if he wants loud and low. he doesn't believe me. who do you you think is being more reasonable. and which setup do yo uthink would more meet his needs? thankyou

P.S. power isn't really and object.

You would have zero room in there, just two seats. The space available also depends on the driver you're planning to use. The larger the subwoofer, the better it's low end will be. SPL is determined by two main things, cone area and excursion. He can do the math to figure out which would be the loudest.

if you were to assume sealed boxes, he'd be right...

but in a ported set up, everything changes -- and loud at a specific note or loud for pratically all bass notes in music?

if he has the money to get 6 12" I'd suggest 2 15" brahmas or RE XXX with maybe 6-8 cubes for the box tuned to 30-35 Hz... if it isn't loud enough, god help him.

man 6-8cu.ft has got to be a huge box. my friend and i buit my box yesterday and i think it's 4.3cuft but not totally sure you guy's are experts. the measurements are 15x20x36 so any help would be great. he said 4.3cuft. not sure, oh and sorry for being off subject on this one i know i'm a jacka@@ for it.

well, if you want more spl in a ported box, go bigger. I'm not exactly sure why. However, there is a point in which the box is too big, like 4x the vas or 2x the vas, I forget. And, the port area is only useful really up until just below the total sd of the drivers you're using. In win ISD 6cubic feet for a pair of brahma 15" isn't that much, really it suggests more like 12 cubic feet for a 22 hz tuning, but we're talking like 35 hz tuning or so for a bit more spl in this application. But, it's general consensus that large boxes to a certain point, with ports is the way to go to get SPL.
