my first ticket!!!

Oh and by the way, NEVER, I mean NEVER admit anything to the cop. If he asks you:

"I caught you speeding back there, do you have any idea as to how fast you were going?"

He expects you to say how fast you were going because more often than not they don't even have radar. If you say:

"Officer, I have no idea, I was just trying to get to school/work/home."

He won't be able to ay how fast you were going because he doesn't know. Or you can always say the speed limit and see what happens. I know this works because I got pulled over a few months ago and the cop was like, son you have any i dea as to how fast you were just going? I said no, I was paying attention to the road and not looking down, but I was holding speed with traffic (HUGE lie). He let me go because he said that his radar must have been lying and that there are bigger fish to catch.......

I got a 91 in a 65. Went to traffic school before my court date and pleaded No-Lo at the arraignment. The judge dropped it to 23 over (so I didn't lose my license). Because I pleaded No-Lo, no points were added to my license, and my insurance won't go up. In total, it cost me about $300, but I'm still driving.

Let's hope your bloody knuckles have healed up by then.. That could be embarrasing trying to explain how that happened.. But I'm sure you're 'well-spoken' enough to talk your way out of it.. And enough with the 'I'm 18 and not a kid anymore' crap.. A 'kid' is defined not only by an age, and by the way you talk around here, you would still be defined as a kid, even with your pathetic attempt at using big words..

Anyways, I could go on, but I think I'm going to end it there and stay out of your posts before I get myself into trouble.. Pay up, quit rapping, and learn how to drive, kid..

/end

the thing is i honestly didn't know i was speeding, i really thought the speed limit was 65, the limit is 65 heading northbound, but 55 heading southbound. It is not a 2 lane highway, it is the causeway bridge - the longest bridge IN THE WORLD
and the speed limit was not posted, the officer pulled me over before i could even reach the first posted speed limit sign

I am confuzzled! How do you know what speed limit is on each side when no speed limit signs were posted?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

while i didnt read every post prior to mine, these people are uninformed about the very nature of the legal system.

this is how it works:

u show up, and plead 'not guilty' to the charge. what happens then (read more before flipping out) is that you go to trial.

the judicial resources ($$$$) in this country are already spread very thin. you plead not guilty, essentially bluffing that u are willing to go to trial. then, the prosecuting attorney (usually about 10 min later) meets with you and offers you a plea bargain. for procedural due process purposes, he must inform you that under the terms of the agreement, you will be pleading guilty to something. however, in taking a plea bargain, u are in no way making an admission to the original charge. the plea is usually half the points on ur license, and half the money.

stop and think about it commonsensically for a moment, do u realize what would happen if every person who got a moving violation took it to trial? only about 1.5% of civil cases are ever tried (the rest settled or dismissed), and we still have too few judges, court reporters, etc. if they let you go to trial, the legal system would literally fall apart, bc the alternative would be a 300% increase in overall taxes to pay for the legal system. then the economy would fall apart.
