i was driving across the causeway bridge, the speed limit has just been changed from 65 at night to 55 at night, but only heading southbound, northbound is still 65 at night and day. I was cruising along and a cop pulls me over for speeding, i was clocked at 72 in a 55... i know this is BS, i was doing less than 70 but can't argue with the police right? So i take my ticket and leave. I have a court date on June 6th. Should i just pay the ticket or go to court and fight it? The speed limit was just changed and this is my first ticket/mark on my driving record.

Do you think they will throw out the ticket? Need some advice from you experts

You can try and argue it, but I would just pay it, and put the issue to sleep. It is hard to argue the city/state. I once got a ticket for no liscence, no insurance, an destroying city property. I had a liscence and ins. but not on me, I went to court to fight it, for nothing. All I got knocked of the ticket was like $85 out of $800+. To me it is a waste of time to fight them, but every state has different laws.

My advice to you is to submit an appeal through, "Trial by Declaration" because you don't have to show up court. Not only is it more convient, but the cop doesn't recieve any overtime pay for showing up to court. This means he'll care less because it doesn't benifit them. Cops recieve something like $300.00 in overtime pay just for showing up to fight an appeal, win or lose. You can try, but your chances of winning are slim unless you know someone that knows the cop personally. Until you get a response, you'd better face the facts and fork up, traffic school, and move on.

more info on this??

link if possible

also doesn't it make a difference since this is my first ticket? I've been driving for years and have never been pulled over

might get it down to 7 over, which I'd think would look better to your insurance company......compared to 17 over

If you speak in court, the way you type here..........forget it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif prolly gets a bigger fine somehow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just go to court, dont make yourself look bad. If the judge isnt as a**hole he will give you some options on how you can siuate this problem. Wether it be take classes or if you are lucky he will dismiss it, you may even be able to make payments on the ticket, as long as you go in time.

i WILL go to court

I am a very well spoken well mannored person, i also have a way of getting my self out of trouble just by saying the right things. Hopefully i can convince the judge that i honestly wasn't aware of the speed limit being 55
