It's a recone on an Audioque HD315. DJ is a great guy, gave me great tips and in turn, the recone turned out great. It was VERY easy, so easy I couldn't believe it! I was scared of not lining up the VC right, but all turned out well. Everything's lined up as it should be and I can't wait to get this in the car tomorrow.

This sub previously had MT softparts on it. DJ says that it was a big mistake, it drastically changed the sub's properties and killed its reliability big time. One thing I noticed, however, was that the HD softparts are MUCH MUCH lighter than the MT's.

The shims are plastic film which is why you don't see them in the picture, but they're there.

Looks like mounting holes may be close enough to the surround to rip it after some use. You checked that?
EDIT: probly just the design...just looks like it.
The surround landing covers the mounting holes. The surround of this sub is not supposed to be evenly stretched around the diameter. DJ told me that he's seen a lot of guys do the recone and stretch the surround out (which is the wrong way to do it), but in reality, the surround is just supposed to sit naturally and drop in where ever it drops in.

real nice job. didnt know that the motor is only held onto the basket by a few screws. but if you were to rate how hard it was to recone 1-10, 10 being the hardest, how would you rate it? and does it take a lot of knowledge?

I understand that. I have re-coned a sub before. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I was asking, even though you just let it sit...are the mounting holes to close to the surround? I know is going to puncture the landing part...but it should still be as far away as possible.

EDIT: after looking closer, it looks fine. I was just asking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'd say maybe a 4 just because of the possibility of not aligning properly, if you have the shim and everything though its real easy
