my dog got ran over :(

if that dog would of ran out in front of my car, I would of had to kick the owner's *** too for the damage to my car.
I would be pissed as well, but the thing of it is, they coudv'e stopped, and let me know, and I would have had no hard fealings to the person, and would have apologized to them, but the fact that they didn't even have the decency to stop is what bothers me. If it wasnt for my neighbor, who knows what would've happened to him.

well if you didn't try to stop, honk, or miss him, then these would be in your ***...

glad to hear he's ok...
get an invisible fence
yea. We are moving at the beginning of 07. That's why we haven't spent any money on this place.

Glad to hear he made it out ok.A lot of dogs simply don't make it.I hope he recoverys quickly. He looks so sad/tired in the last pic. Cute dog though.
He has slept a whole helluva lot. He is still bleading out of his left nostril a little bit. Doc said he would. Also, the spot on his head that flaps when he breathes is moving a lot less today than yesterday.

Thanks again guys for the prayers & thoughts!

Glad he's ok man. My grandparents live along this major turcking route in WV. All the dogs they have had and my mom grew up with over the years all eventually went to the road and got hit. My last dog got hit there when he was a puppy. Cocker Spaniel. Car hit him going about 60MPH. Didnt hit him with the tires, but went right over top him. Shot him out from underneath the back of the car and rolled him. He bit through his tougne and has a concusion, but that was about it. That happened when he was about 1 year old. Funny how years later, when he got between 12-15 yrs he lost both his eyesight and hearing, and we eventually had to put himn down. Still dont know if it was because of his breed or had somthing to do with the accident.

wow you would think that they might eventually learn to keep the dogs away from the road, but then they are from WV..

About pitbulls..Sorta off topic, but I must say they can be incredibaly unpredictable and dangerous dogs. My buddy has a brendal pit named Malico. Lean, and cut @75lbs.

Well anyway, Malico had these mut puppies. Pitbull jaws, but longer snouts, and taller and lanky. My buddy kept Malico and one of her mut puppies named Gracy, who is black and weighs about 45lbs.

To make a long story short, Gracy and Malico (daughter and mother) are jealous of Bill, and they can't be around each other at the same time. Other day I was up there and Malico was chained out back. When we went outside, Gracy got out of the house and ran around back where Malico was chained up. Didnt even hesitate for a second...This little 45lb mut pitbull ran straight up to her purebred mother and lunged right at her. They started getting into it pretty good. Eventually, Malico got the the best of her daughter, and chomped down on Gracy's jowls on the side of her face.

We had 3 grown men try to pull these dogs apart. Bill's dad, who is benches 350, cut as hell, pulling on Malico the 75lb pit, and Bill and I (who weigh about 200lbs each) pulling on 40lb Gracy.

After almost 5 minutes we still couldnt break Malico's grip. Finally, Bill's ripped dad starts wailing on Malico's head with his fists in desperation. Despite about a dozen close fisted blows to the forehead that would probably knock a MF human out cold, Malico still had a solid grip and remained unfazed. Finally, I took my foot and pinned both their faces to the ground. We literally had to "rip" them apart.

We took Gracy upstairs and washed off her mouth and jaws and threw some antibacterial oitment on her. She wasnt as bad as we had thought. JUst had her jowls stretched and punctured in a few places. She was shaky and dispondant for about an hour. Malico the pit (god love her), just tucked her tail between her legs and retreated to her doghouse.

The incident had all 3 of us shaken up for a few hours. 3 grown men (650LBS) could not tear apart a 40 and 70lb dog. Scares the hell out of me to think about a pit like Malico latching onto my arm, or worse yet, getting ahold of a little kid..

After what I have seen, I figure I'd be pretty shit out of luck if she ever latched onto me while I was by myself. Figure I'd have to try to choke her out or somthing. Else i'd be toast.

Generally speaking, Malico is a sweetheart, but in certain cercumstances I have noticed that a certain "Pit ferocity" will come out, that seperates her from the many other breeds of dog I've had experiences with throughout my life. For example, I would not trust a full grown pit bull around an infant or toddler. Just would not do it. No matter how well trained you have them, I do belive there are certain behavioral traits that differentiate them from other breeds. Pitts and Chows in my experience are the worst with this.

You have to understand these are outside dogs. No chains. They run on 100 acers of farmland bordered on one side by a trucking route. No matter how well you train them, chances are they will eventually bite it. Grandad most rescently had a pair of coon dogs. They were each almost 2 years old, and had been on the farm their whole life. Think they would have learned? Nope. Eventually both of them ended up getting hit. Just a matter of time. We did have a retireiver named Brownie about 10 years back that made it to about 10 years, but he eventually got hit and killed himself.

BTW....Like to see you come down to Petersburg and make a comment like that. Don't be an *******.

After my comment, lets please not get this off topic. I will have a mod come in and clean up.

I have to say that my pit was a year old when i got my schnauzer. trill is now 1.8months, and seb is around 7-8months. Trill has snapped at him two times! only 2! and i beat his *** relentlessly when he did. Seb constantly growls, bites, jumps on, always aggravating trill. I've never had a full grown dog, and then got a puppy, and the grown dog only snap 2 times in 7months. more like 2x a day if not more. Granted I do keep them separate when we aren't home. It's all in how you raise them. take plenty of time up with them, and the **** dog won't even know it's a pit bull, he will think it's a person.

Now please guys, Let's not turn this into shit fest.

Bottom line... Your dog is alive and very lucky. Such a big dog getting nailed by a car usually does not turn out so good.

Yes. He must have saw that commercial on TV where the person, and the RAM head-but each other, and wanted to try it with a car.

I would think maybe the guy or whatever that hit you would think you would want to fight/sue him for hitting his dog. Plus, how do you know who the owner is?

I have hit a dog and killed it before. I was on an overpass. I swerved to not hit the dog and then the dog swerved the same way I did. I brought the dog to the house I was going and we tried to help it. None of us have any medical training. There are no 24 vets. I didn't know what to do. I think they buried out in the woods. The dog had no tags or anything, but was well fed, so someone owned it.

I am glad your dog is okay.

My lil brother's dog was hit, then dragged down the street as it's coller got stuck on something. My lil brother saw the whole thing, but didn't really react. He was mad at the driver, but when the dog come aloose, he was more concerned with taking the dog to the vet than getting at the driver.
