I've been in the Navy for 16 years. For most of the time I loved it, I was proud of what I did and my achievements.

The more I learn how currupt the system is, how we don't have anything to do with protecting people, how we are only tools for the corporate elite to push agendas and topple governments that don't work well with the companies profit margins. How we use force to create more world poverty. How we use force against governments that try to protect their own people.

I'm ashamed to be part of the worlds most funded gang.

I'm almost at the retirement mark and I'm not jumping ship only because I can't and still support my family at this point in time.

When I'm done I never want to have anything to do with the US military again.

I fully understand why the rest of the world hates the US. It is warranted. More and more enlisted senior leadership is losing motivation everyday. But most are in my same senerio. The war mongers don't see a problem with it, it's good for advancement. That's pure greed. And greed is the real problem with everything.

It's a bit depressing. I really wish I could go back to be ignorant and just go with the flow.

That's all, just wanted to get that off my chest.

You did something terribly wrong in choosing a career path in there if you can't hop right into the private sector making double the money. That said quitting 4 years out from retirement (off of which you should be able to live modestly if not comfortably) would be insane.

Odd you didn't figure out you weren't a company man sooner though.

my son in law in army he drives bulldozers heavy machines he got that so he can get out and get good paying job later he does pr now at bragg.. guy in navy or coast guard said they'd take ships carrying illegal whatever and us would sell them to higher bidder.. may actually have to protect us soon..

I'm aviation. The jobs are there but all gov contracts. With my disabilities I'll pull about $1500 a month and depending where we go it might not be taxed. It's not enough to support a house. Kids college is already covered. It won't be Ivy League.

Sell your pills on the cool dog

sounds like you drank the social justice warrior kool aid and want to feel vindicated by putting down the "enemy" that people are telling you is

why dont you think for yourself?

keep in mind i dont disagree that the system is entirely too corrupt, and i know a lot of terrible things are happening because ive been through it myself. im not saying this to rag on you, im saying this so you dont go so deep down the rabbit hole that you end up like the rest of the mindless zombies who think they have to be politically correct to like themselves
