Hey guys!
I've gotten a bunch of great information and learned tons of stuff since I found this great website. This is where I am at right now with my car-
I've got a 1995 Accord EX 2-door. I've got a Pioneer DH-2600 head unit with the equalizer and all the great factory settings (Vocal, Powerful, SuperBass, Natural....etc). It has more adjustments than I understand, but that's another issue. The FIE (front image enhancer) is one of the main reasons I bought it. This feature sends all low frequency (bass) to the rear and everything else to the front. I've got 6x9 Pioneer 3-ways (great for bass!) in the rear and Alpine (SPS-170) Type-S 6.5's in my front doors (very impressive speakers). I have the stock tweeters.
The front speakers are mounted on an MDF type baffle or mount or whatever you guys call it. There is a bunch of sound deadener (Damplifier, I think it's called) in both front doors. Maybe 7 square feet on each. It's on the outer and inner door skin and a little bit on the door panel. There is foam surrounding all the door handle rods to prevent vibration. There is a double layer of deadener up and around the speakers. I have a bunch of egg crate foam behind the speakers and filling up the rest of the door.
The rear spears are surrounded by the sound deadening mat with double layers with a bunch of extra on the rear deck. Maybe 4 square feet used.
The car is built amazingly solid from the factory, but now it's amazing. The sound difference is huge. The sound is perfectly crisp, clear, complete, and full. I am enjoying songs I couldn't stand before! The increase in bass and lack of vibrations and reverberations is fantastic. The sound deadener did everything you guys have said it would.
So what's the next step? I do not want a sub. What's the next thing I can do to improve the sound quality (is there anything?)? Is there any reason to replace my stock tweeters? If you guys hadn't noticed, I am on a budget...I realize there are better speakers than mine, but that ain't gonna happen!
