My Car Sound System

I'm new to the forums and a little new to car audio and I didn't know where to put this so I put it here. I own a Toyota Avalon 2000 XLS with the JBL system installed. The radio and speakers are stock and they sound pretty bad. On the left hand sound it makes a skipping noise if I turn it up even a little. There's no bass at all and there is a stock subwoofer that rattles or just doesn't work. I planned on replacing the head unit with a Pioneer MVH-X560 and it's RMS is 22 watts to four channels. I haven't decided between the Kicker Ds65s or the Dcs65s. And the subwoofer would be a MTX Terminator 12" 4 ohm with a 300 watt mtx thunder amplifier. If I remember correctly the RMS of the sub is 300 watts. I would like to know is this a good set up? I love the sound in my dad's 2011 or 07 camry and all that has in 4 6 by 9s.

MTX and Kicker are both bad, in my opinion. If you're going to get cheap mainstream craigslist stuff, at least get Alpine. If you want something pretty decent on the cheap, pick up a used Hifonics Brutus or PPI amp and some Sundown Type E's or some of the new FU subs everyone is raving about. Hell, even some Soundqubed 200 series subs. Whatever you get, put it in a custom ported box. Anything prefab is garbage.

Big Scott is selling a PPI 1800 cheap on here. You should include a budget for other people to suggest things for you.

That or...since you like your dad's setup, you can probably get 6'5"s in the front and 6x9s in the back, but you'll need an external amp and preferably of the more powerful variety. The way I'd do it, as a lot of others do, is spend a little extra on quality front speakers and power them with a solid 2ch amp. Then add a sub in a custom box with a sub amp. This is a pretty simple setup that can really deliver, if done correctly.

I don't want to be blasting my music. The only reason I want to change it is to get a good rumble going throughout the car like my dad's and he only has the stock speaker and stereo in his car. All together the price of everthing would be about 370 for everything including a box for the sub. And after I found out about the 6 by 9s in his car I started looking for some but then I looked in my car and all the speaker sizes are 6.5 except the sub in the back which is an 8.
