My first post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

I have narrowed down my 4 channel amp shopping to either the Alpine PDX-4.100 or the Alpine MRP-F600. My speakers can handle a max of 180watts so these amps seem to be decent. If not, let me know. Anyway, the main difference seems to be the classes. The PDX is a class AB and the MRP is a class D. The following quote seems to clear up the differences, but still leaves me deciding. They both have their pros and both have their cons. Any tips?

The actual class of amplifier (AB vs D) is probably not that important for you. Yes, they are fundamentally different different approaches to amplification, but there are a lot of other parameters that are equally, if not more important. Class D is generally more efficient than class AB, which basically means for a fixed sound level, the amplifier will consume less power. That is probably the main if not only advantage to class D over AB. And I'm not sure the power savings would make any difference for you. It's my understanding that class AB might genereally sound better because it is linear, whereas class D first converts the input signal to a digital representation, amplifies the digitized signal, then converts back to analog by filtering. So it is a very nonlinear approach, there's some chance that distortion or artifacts will be introduced, but I would trust most manufacturers have done a good enough job to reduce that so that you can't tell. Long story short, I wouldn't get one or the other just because one's a class AB and the other's a class D. All things being equal, I'd get the class AB to save money.
I'm assuming you're comparing the PDX-4.100 to the MRP-F600. Compare the frequency response data, SNR, Power specs. The MRP-F600 is rated better in some of these categories.

As for wiring the 4 channel amp, I currently have a power cable, 2 farad capacitor, and RCAs running to the trunk. My sub amp (separate amp) has RCA inputs and outputs and I believe the Alpine MRP does too. So can I use a 2 foot RCA cable to connect from the Kicker's RCA output to the Alpine's RCA input, (or vice versa I guess)? I can also use the same ground and power that I ran for the subs too. Though does this mean I have to run all 4 of the speaker's wires to the trunk? I'm guessing I'd need to send 8 wires from behind the glove box, all the way to the trunk . Any idea how long I would need to run from the glove box to the trunk? I rather run too much than too little.

and sorry for the novel of a post . I got carried away! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks!
