my box was damaged in shipping....

So i recently purchased a box from dave the box guy.

The box showed up yesterday, it was packed very well but there was a huge gouge on the rounded edge of the back, and several other dents in the edge on the other side.

I left a message with dave, but have any of you guys been through this? I knwo he had it insured, so does that mean that he needs to file a claim? or do I?

whats my first step here?

Pics, and shipper does claim, but you have to report it to shipping company. Keep all materials used to ship. Leave the package as intact as possible.
