my amp has no fuse??

hey all i have a amp that does not have a fuse in it.. i was told i should put a fuse in it for safety.. now putting a fuse in the amp how should i do that.. should i get the same fuse holded i have by the battery and connect it to the power wire 18" from the amp? or do i gota get a smaller fuse for the amp? let me know thanks

you want to put another inline fuse near the amp. The amp manual should tell you waht size you need.

id fuse it at either 100 or 120 amps.

ok well i have a 80a fuse up front and i have a 100a fuse layin around.. if it okay if i used that? uneven amp fuses,, is it better if i used 80a fuse to match it? and i geuss i just add the fuse close to the amp on the power wire correct?

yea, put the fuse a few inches from the amp, like no more than 6 or so. and use the 100. different size fuse ratings wont hurt anything.

Incorrect, there are fuse ratings for a reason. It's there to protect your equipment. You don't just through a 50A fuse on a 5,000w amp. You must fuse it according to the manufacturer as stated in the manual, just like wu501 mentioned.

your right, but i checked, and its a 1kw @ 2 ohm amp. i generalized 1kw to draw 100-120 amps, depending.

True, my PDX's requires 100A. Though some overrated amps will have less fusing, which won't be the issue with the Pioneer.

I searched google and Pioneer's website came up. Clicked on support then user manuals, downloaded the English version and in the diagram it shows a 100A fuse just as blackdragon mentioned.
