My 3 year old Toshiba Tecra M3. Intel Pentium M at 1.73 Ghz with 2 gig of ram. 64 MB Video Ram with the Nvidia GeForce Go 6600.

It runs everything just perfect, even Windows Aero and all the nice visual effects. Windows 7 has been VERY good to me so far. I didn't dare putting Vista on my laptop, but after having my desktop PC running win7, I was impressed and thought I would try out the performance on my laptop. I have no complaints so far. It is far better then Vista in so many ways!

i bet it would run vista just fine too..

7 is ok but its not like the messiah like people are making it out.

I'll upgrade from vista when it comes out but i dont think it will be as big as an upgrade as it was to go from XP to Vista.

Well I have used XP, Vista, and Win7 beta. Vista is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. But Win7 really is a lot less resource heavy and has some really cool features. UAC improvements, etc.

I'm running Windows 7 on my "server *****" a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 754, so read ancient), 512mb of DDR ram, a 6600 and a very old and very tired IBM deskstar I jacked out of a Powermac G4. Bottom line: Loads faster than the copy of XP that used to be installed on there.

Im running it myself on an old laptop, single core 2.2 with only a gig of ram, has a ATi 256mb graphics card tho. Runs very well actually and is pretty cool.

And i agree about the load times, super fvckin fast

Great to hear that as well.

I am getting a old Dell machine up and running that I will be using as a file and web server, about the same specs as the old piece you listed. Intel celeron 566Mhz (ordered a 1Ghz for $6 total LMAO). Had 128 MB ram but waiting on my 2 X 256 SDRAM to come in. It also has a whopping 10 GB hard drive (right now, 400GB or larger comming). I got the machine free so I thought why the hell not. I will be running server 2003 on it.

i have an asus g1s-a1 laptop. 2.2ghz, 2 gigs ram, and a nvidia geoforce 8600m gt 256 mb video card. im running 32bit vista ultimate right now. could my laptop handle windows 7? would it be worth it?

If mine can handle it, yours will definitely be able to. I would say yes, it is very worth it IMO.
