So i have a cut sheet or plans for a JL 13w7 box thats to JL specs but different measurements. If anybody wants them. I had to have it 16" high so i could fit it in the trunk of my civic.

I did a 143.8 on termlab yesterday with the ported box at 30hz and 142.6 in a jl spec sealed box on a db drag mic.

Probably could have done better with the box tuned to 43-45 ish but i didn't want just an spl box laying around. So i just did the 30 hz. Its definatly alot boomier than the sealed. I think i like the sealed better. I'll post pics later if anybody wants to see them.

Its time for a new fiberglass box, this one weights 56 lbs and the sub weights 52 lbs. That sucks for driving.

well this one i built is just way to heavy. My car is slow enough this is like turning on the ac. the car just doesn't go. Plus i've all the subs i've owned were in sealed boxes, so i'm just used to them. You should make one and see how u like it.

I'll post pics of them later tonight.

byt eh way.. nice job on the box!! handclap:

yeah.. hey by the way.. wehre did you get your MDF at... i cant find it newhere... also waht amp(s) do out have runnin through it??

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif no.. you should only need 3/4... but when i did my sealed i doubled up my front. yeah the screws should b about 1 incha apart.. does anyone remember where they got their Medium Density Fiberboard *mdf) at??

homedepot. JL recommends at least a 1 inch front and 3/4 on the rest. My front is a 1.25. used a sheet of 3/4 and 1/2. check the sig.

You guys are crazy. If you put screws 1inch apart the mdf is just going to split. If you use good wood glue there should be no reason why you need screws 1 inch apart. I can't see how putting screws every inch is going to help make the box better, maybe worse. Plus the amount of time to predrill and counter sink all that shit. Your nuts.

I dont know where you heard you need screws 1" apart... but thats not true at all. If you were to use wood glue instead of that liquid nails, you could have 0 screws in the box and it would be just as strong as if it were one whole piece of MDF. Wood glue creates a bond that is stronger than the MDF itself.

exactly. Screws are to hold it together while it drys, in otherwords. If you have vise clamp thingies then you probably wouldn't need screws.
