Mutiple amps

Ok so I am in the process of getting all the equipment i will need to wall off my truck with an 18". I am trying to figure out what to do about amps. I already have 2 Hifonics Bxi 2008D's and i am wondering if i should just get two more of them and just bridge them with a Maxx Link or should i sell the 2 amps I have and buy 1 big amp? with 1 amp i would probably only be able to get something that puts out around 5k watts but four Bxi 2008D would be around 8k. any one have any thoughts. what are the pros and cons of both ideas?

I'm with both blazer and spl on this on: I'd get a pair of 15's rather than an 18. Much easier to find in case you ever blow up the 18. And I'd go with multiple amps rather than a multi-channel amp if just for your bass (IF you have the room, that is). I bought a 4-channel amp to run my fronts and rears, but then before I even took it out of the box I changed my mind and decided to run seperate amps to fronts and rears, so I sold the 4-channel to my brother and got a new pair of seperate amps for door speakers and rear speakers. Several reasons for doing this, but the main reasons are that if some speakers quit working in your system, I've found it's MUCH easier to troubleshoot the problem if you run seperate amps. The other main reason is better sound quality and less stress on each amp (not to mention more power).

But I got a bit confused on your question. Are the 2 HiFonics amps you already have meant for your bass or are they for your other speakers? If they are JUST for your 18, I'd go with 1 big amp rather than 2 smaller ones. But if you get a pair of 15's to replace your one 18, I'd bridge an amp to each sub, then buy a seperate amp for fronts and rears or a 4-channel for those.

Just my opinion, which might not count.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Why one 18... you can easily to one 18" in a regular ported box.

Don't be a wuss, if you're walling do 2 18's...

First off i already got a deal to get 1 18". but as some one who owned a Dakota you should know that is is not comfertably fesable to do 2 18"s. I have only 10 cubic ft to work with including the space that the port is going to take up. I plan for down the road to maybe do 2 15"s but for now it is 1 18".

spill the beans, are u following Doug with an omega?
Whats the price for 2 more amps? 4 amps is probably the cheapest 7k you can get
I am actualy buying dous BTL off of him. and the cheaper cost for the more power is my consern. it would only cost me $600 more to get two more Bxi2008d amps and i would have around 8k power if i were to sell the two i have it would still cost me $800 at best for a used 5k amp.

i think some stetsoms have been floating around for $800,

$300 per brutus, thats on the steep side son,

sell your 2 amps and take that $600 and get a nice one, what would that be like $1000 for an amp, lots of choices

Psh... You'd just need the batteries in the bed...

I've done a single 18 ported right above the window line and the same with 6 10's ported too...

I'm gonna do 2 15's ported just a bit above the window line coming this summer... should be fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I cannot see any reason you would want 4 amps, unless you had two subwoofers. I'd go with a single amp. Even if you just want to keep what you have... the pair of bxi2008's would be plenty.
