music theroy question - should be easy

Well, to start with; the fraction 3/1 = 3, not .33
2nd, That scale was for increasing in frequency. You are wanting to decrease in frequency by one-half octave; not increase.

So, if an octave higher is represented as 2/1, then an octave lower would be the reciprocal of that, or 1/2. Now, you are wanting to find 1/2 of that 1/2; or more easily, 1/4. So, you could take that 60hz and subtract 1/4, or (more quickly) mulitply it by 3/4.

So, one octave lower than 60hz is 45hz. To verify this; one octave lower from 60hz is 30hz. The middle point between those is 45hz.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just using logic.
x2 1/3 = .33, i thought i noticed something f'd ^

lol. like i said, im dislexic sometimes. i meant to do 3\1

sorry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Yea Squeak is right...... one octave up is double the freq. an octave down is half ..... a half octave up is the freq. plus half of itsself a half octave down is a freq. minus 1/4 of it. And for SPL installs this isn't the best method. What you need to do is first find the vehicles Fs then build a box that will peak there. Use WinISD or something to get a huge peak at the cars Fs..... then play around with some other tunings since WinISD isn't too accurate. All different drivers peak differently in a box. For example the smaller the box the higher the box will peak.... the bigger the closer to the Fb. And high BL subs like mt's DP's Sx's ect....will peak closer to tuning in the same box as opposed to something like a brahma or tempest. Sooo....ditch the half octave w/e that was theory.

lol, I swear, no one ever sees my posts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
