Music Downloads

Torrents are small files that, i guess, forward you to a network of peers from who you download the files from. There is no large central server, nor is there a company that makes a software, so nobody really gets in trouble for using it. When you run a torrent, you download music, all while uploading what youve already downloaded. I use BitTorrent as a client. It starts off slow at first, but i usually get a speed of 64kb/s after 10 or so minutes. Its an easy way to download entire albums.

Grokster and Kazaa both ****, at least in the fact that they will both infect you with loads of spyware. If you must use kazaa, at least get kazaa lite. Grokster IIRC uses the same network as Morpheus, and they both are crap for results, and Fasttrack(Kazaa) is rapidly declining as well.

For P2P clients, I prefer Shareaza. Lets you download from multiple networks (EMule, Gnutella (for the same content as Limewire), etc) and is also a torrent front-end. Plus, it's free and contains no spyware. As with any P2P though, you still stand the chance of downloading bogus music, and of getting a RIAA lawsuit.

God, people are so lame here... There's another thread called "music downloads" on the FRONT PAGE of the lounge. How many posts do we need about 1337 warez and - when you get down to it - illegal activity ?
