Multimeter burnage *PICS* easy replace parts or buy new?

seriously all the trouble for a voltmeter? Buy a stinger one and adjust it so it's accurate.
Trouble? An hours worth of youre time isnt worth saving $50-$100 to you, sure as hell is to me

If I replace the fuse and metal bar ( anything in particular has to be used? ) and possibly the resistor, it should probly work just fine right?

You're really an idiot if you're spending $100 on a voltmeter in the first place.

put it on your christmas list.
Oh, youre thinking a voltage display gauge, Im talking about my MULTIMETER, checks voltage, resistance, ohm, etc. There expensive, my stinger voltmeter works just fine.

Im trying to fix my MULTIMETER with voltmeter function lol

Lol, snows a ****ing idiot.

But, im sure you could fix it easily. Get your soldering iron out and remove the parts, label them, go to radioshack and see what you need, resolder, and see if it works. If not, you lost a couple bucks. I bought one of the gentech DMMs from walmart and love it. Way better than the craftsman one i had which had the same thing happen to it as yours. Except with mine someone moved my leads around and i tried to check my idle voltage.

you didn't leave this in the rain or anything else..

you tried to measure voltage with the meter leads connected to the inputs for measuring current...

the big, metal thing thats melted is a current shunt, the meter will work without it, but not for measuring current on the ~10amp range (or whatever it may be)

just reconnect a battery clip and see if it still works, if it doesn't, don't even bother!

Thats what i was thinking, lol. Someone made a mistake, thats what happened with mine.

Wtf? Canadians have thanksgiving in october? AND they close the stores. wtf?
Yup, EVERYTHING is closed tomorrow, like everything.

I fixed it though, solderred in a new 9V clip from another 9volt unit, and thats all it needed.

Gonna go play now  thanks

I dont want cheap unreliable shit thats unaccurate, this one was crazy accurate has tons of functions, easy display and setup and easy to use leads.
I just want some inf on how to FIX it
And it won't be as accurate if you just solder it thus increasing resistance internally.

I didnt have to solder anything, just attached a new 9V battery harness clip on, the metal bar is still fried, and I guess all the other parts were fine.

Voltage and Resistance seem to be bang on
