They did it because the mtx costed less then the focals,and quarts, and supposedly sounded just as good or better. Who knows maybe they do. It makes sales.

read the 2005 annual edition of PAS magazine they do a Vs. of focal 130k mb quart pce213 and the mtx txc5.1 the mtx wins hands down over the other two and is also cheaper. To each his own these vs threads do indeed **** balls.

I got to open a box of with the new Thunder Axe High End comps and got to handle them a little bit. The woofers feel really solid and are very shallow on the mounting depth. The tweeters seem to be of alot better quality then the 5000 or the 8000 tweeters. The crossover networks are as robust as any MB Quart crossover I've ever put my hands on. Without hearing them I would say they compare to sets twice their price. But then again specs don't tell you how they will sound in YOUR car. So audition if you can and then make your selection.

Smart from a marketing and PR view I guess.

You may not think so ... but just imagine yourself as someone just getting into the mobile electronics world and not as an 'educated' individual who knows to see past most advertisements/claims and knows only the mainstream.
