Mtx Thunder9500 question

I got 2 Mtx thunder6000 12's with a Planet audio 850 watt amp, 300 watt rms each channel. I want to get the 9500 series woofers. I want 2 of them, is there a big difference between the 15" and the 12"? How would 2 15's in a sledgehammer box with a Mtx thunder1501d on each woofer. That would be 2 thunder1501d's, 2 15"9500s, 2000 rms. Would that be too much on the subs? Would it quake the earth? Anything better for the price? Sorry bout all the question, i been out of the car audio scene for a lil while ! Thanks!

The 9500's can produce well, but i would make sure you keep the gains down on those 1501's cause they like to go pop.

I however have 2 9500 15's for sale for $325 each plus shipping. Mint condition.

I have them, I love them, I'm waiting for the upgraded model. An MTX rep. came to the local dealer and was discussing the "sequel" to the 9500. He said it would be after the 1st of the year, perhaps sometime in February.

To answer the question they will get extremely loud with that setup. Personally I would go with a custom built box made from high output recommendations from MTX. (When I say "high output" I don't mean the SPL application.) The subs can handle a lot of abuse, but don't get too crazy. Remember they are recommended for a maximum of 1000 watts CONTINUOUS power.

Not trying to jack the thread....I have a question about the 9500's also.I am contemplating on selling my 2~N.I.B.~Eclipse~88120Ti~DVC-4~Ohm and getting 2-9500's DVC-4-Ohm for SQ....But been hearing they require "Lots" of power,and they're*Not* an efficent sub.I have 2~Kicker~ZR~1000's,1 for each sub.Are they not enough power for those subs for S.Q.?? So I've shyed away from that.

Has anyone compared these two different subs,in actual play time,with all kinds of music,and what was you're opinion.I'll keep my Eclipse subs,if the MTX isn't what I thought it was.Thank you and didn't mean to jack the thread.

The Eclipse Ti subs are very nice. They get loud and retain very nice sq. The MTX 9500s do the same thing. They don't require massive amounts of power to get working, but remember when you are dealing with a sub with lots of potential you have to feed them a little juice. Sometimes more than you are willing. The MTX 9500 12s and 15s both recommend 1000 watts continuous, and the Eclipse Ti 12 and 15 recommend 750 watts continuous so either way you will be giving them similar power. To answer your question it really comes down to what you want. Both of these drivers are nice and can do what you want. It's all in the install (box).
