MTX subs

I've heard 8 10" MTX 6000s with two Directed 1100d amps in a custom built SPL enclosure and those things made me stop breathing and changed my heart beat. I don't know what everyone else heard but I've seen some kick *** SPL set-ups with MTX speakers and they whaled. Sound quality was great too.

The crappy sounding MTX set-ups I've heard were usually in regular boxes or those triple box enclosures that MTX sells. The 8000s can pound if the installer knows what he is doing. Not saying that MTX is the best but in my opinion SPL is what they are for.

Originally posted by xin The MTX 8000 are a joke.... The bass is sloppy and there is no SQ.......just in my opinion tho. I wished MTX still made the Blue Thunder, they are in the top 8 of my favorite subs, gotta luv them.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
It all depends on the ear of the one buying the sub. I have 4 - 12" MTX 8000 dual 4 ohm. I have an Xtant 1001 running them and I couldn't have been more impressed. SQ was more important to me so I bought the MTX's just to see how they would do and if they weren't that good I could always sell them and try something different. I don't think I'll be selling these bad boys. The amp has alot to do with how your sub performs though.

As far as Blue Thunder subs are concerned: All they were was different subs with a Blue Thunder cone. The Blue Thunder Legacy was just a MTX 5000 woofer with the BT grey w/blue printing cone. And likewise the Extreme BT was an MTX 7000 with, you guessed it, a BT cone. So what I'm saying is the Blue Thunder line was no better than the regular MTX lines, just different looking. However, very good looking.

Any given sub with the perfect enclosure and the right amp and power will be pretty impressive...... The MTX setups I have heard are in huge slot ported boxes and they had decent SPL without barely any SQ. The SPL was also very sloppy as well.....maybe thats just my ears, not sayin they are really bad but there are better stuff out there.

How can you say the SPL was decent and then say it was very sloppy? Which was it? I agree with you but SPL set-ups are for SPL not for SQ. Apples and Oranges. Yes there are subs that have good SQ and are good for SPL apps., but normally a true blue SPL vehicle is not going to be a daily driver and will only be burped. Playing 14 tracks from a new released CD is not an option.

It's cool man, as a matter of fact I feel that my sub amp (Xtant 1001) is what makes my subs worth a ****. Sure I believe MTX subs are (spl - 1st) and (sq - 2nd) and some day my tastes may change and I may want something that leans toward sq a little more but for now I'm pretty happy with these.

those 9500's look bad-***...it just boils down to the theory of they cost too much and there will be speakers just as good for less money. but i certainly wouldn't mind having a pair of those subs in my trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ya I wouldn't mind havin the 9500 either. But we do see that quite often, the company makes an improved sub but the price is still too high for most of us and like abcdefg said we could probably get an brahma for less that maybe better in terms of performance.

ive got 12inch 9500 DVC waiting to installed ill give youa all little review once its installed it better not be a shitty sub its ****in enormous

they're released... the local shop has them, and a few other models that have the same cone design. like 4500, 8500 and something else I think. I'm pretty sure they have the 9500. I know they have some MTX sub that is big as hell and mean looking and its not an rfl. they have silver/metallic type cone.
