MTX or Alpine Subs?

I am looking for subs. MTX 8000s 12" is really what I am interested in. Are these any good or should I go for something like Alpine or JL Audio. Its gonna be hooked up to the MTX8100D amp. Thanks for your help.

Well out of the three I would go with JL, but you are going to pay alot more. IMO I dont like 8000's. They are decently loud but for the money I think there is better. Check out the Elemental designs, or like a RE SE. These are good subs and are worth every penny, and we all know pinching pennies in this hobby means a lot. I know there is more subs out there in that price range that are good, im just still really hurting this mourning.

I'd go after the JL's if I was picking inbetween those three. I guess it really depends on what sound you are going after. Are you going after SQ or SPL? I don't really recomend MTX subs, they just don't have very good output. Their not too loud, or great sounding.

SQ:

Go after the JL subs or (what I would go after) the Image Dynamics

SPL:

Alpines arent the greatest, but they are a line of subs that I respect.

What can I run to the 2 alpine 12"s type R? What do they need? How much power!? Whats a good amp? I want to have SPL and SQ, but i dont know how good JL can work for me, I want cool looking subs. And will the Infinity 3 way sound good? do i need to amp them? and what kinda capictor do i need for the sub woofer amp? THANKS!

My friend ran a JBL 600.1 on 2 type r's and it sounded pretty good. You won't need a capacitor if your just running that amp.

i have 2 12 inch type r's running off of a jbl 1200.1 and that shit slams and has great sound quality.

How about 15" vs. the 12"s, 2 15s or 2 12"s?

u can get 2 15" type r's and give them about 1000 watts each and it will blow your car apart but still sound great.

I would go with the alpines not just because I am anti jl but they will give you better sound out of the threeand they are also resonably priced

I would go with the Type Rs..They have good SQ and decent SPL for the price of the subs..Despite my name..I am now an Anti JL AUDIO fan..I've had the w3's and know peps with JL..JL is overpriced and not real good AUDIO..Put it this way..JL AUDIO is OVERRATED and OVER PRICED!!!

As you can see im a jl fan, but they are high priced. If they dropped to like 125$ 12 it would probably do alot better. I would try the audiobahn 1200q
