No. Both the 6500 and 81000 did fine with a 1 ohm load. The 81000 went on to drive a 3510 d2 for about a year or so.i have the 6500D amp and its a stout lil thing. did u have to mod yours to get it to play at 1 ohm?
To be honest 1 ohm with those amps was more hit/miss then most remember. Some were modded to run 1 ohm, but they were never meant to run 1 ohm daily. I know many did, but that was not the intention thus the 2 ohm ratings. They were good amps though for the most part.No. Both the 6500 and 81000 did fine with a 1 ohm load. ( I bought this 6500 new...maybe 9 years ago)
Reminds me of my first date........Especially since as said above, it basically only survived a single stroke. lol
Yes it was-lol. A very good electrical was a must for 81000d. I seen a few that had the protection chip removed( "the mod") and they seemed to do fine with a good electrical. Doing the mod thou, would take all of the protection out of the amps.To be honest 1 ohm with those amps was more hit/miss then most remember. None at all actually, they don't own it. Richard Clark does, and it's sitting in his barn/garage in North Cackalacky amongst his GNX grave yard . I remember that talks about it way back in the day. I only got to see pictures never in person as it was never in missouri(or at least not when I was around). Now, there are some things I could tell you about how MTX was started and funded that would put a dark shadow over things..but no reason for that haha.
