Mtx 9512 v. Kicker L7

My friend recently purchased a 15" kicker L7, teh box really isnt that big, but it is ported. He claims he can "smoke" my 9500. He's pushing a mere 1200 watts to it. So i tell him at the same wattage my sub would own his. What do you guys think. MTX or the L7 ? Who's is louder in terms of bass. We're not metering, just by ear.

you don't get loud with just a sub. it has to be installed. for instance...the same sub in a SUV will likely be louder than in a trunk car. ported is generally louder (spl wise) than sealed.

I dont know who you are lecturing but I hope its not me. No reason to argue. But I thought he was asking which sub was better but I now see he wants to know who will be louder. But It is imposible to tell, to many factors.

Well, i dont think his electrical system is all that great, (no cap, no good battery, car is a piece)

The L7 will blow, and yes meter wise the L7 will be better, but for everyday listening the Mtx, and the 9500 will take 1500-1700wrms daily all day!!

Uh... I sent 2kw to my L7 15 all day long. A 9512 has nothing on it.

But really, it's all dependent on install. In a properly sized and tuned enclosure and in the right car, a 9512 can be louder. If both are correctly installed, then 9 times out of 10 the 15" L7 will be louder.
