mtx 9512-44 box

any1 got any suggestions or boxes they have used in the past for a mtx thunder 9512-44,i was thinking of having it tuned in the low 30's,the box i have right now is small and tuned in the 40's so i want a new box,im also wondering if i should be using 1"wood for this bcuz i dont think 3/4 is enough for this sub

i've done a few for 9500s and am working on install right now with 3 9512s in an fx45- with lots of custom fiberglass etc.

I would recommend going about 10% larger than the mtx "spl" enclosure and tuning to 34 hz.

so a net internal volume of about 2.2 ft^3 tuned to 34,i was thinking more around 30-31,will 34 still give me good sq

yes- go a bit lower if you'd prefer.

i have installs completed for people in my "club" or whatever youd' call it with

2 9515s at 3 cubes per tuned to 32, 3 9515s at 3.111 cubes per tuned to 30 (my personal truck), 2 9512s at 2.25 cubes tuned to 34 etc.

they all do what they should- 31 vs 34 you'll never actually know the difference anyways, but if it makes you more comfortable tune a bit lower.

the big thing i've learned is not to put these subs in smaller enclosures

yea,my box is in the middle of mtx's "recommended" specs for a ported box,since there shouldnt be limited to small enclosures im thinking i should do 3 ft^3 at 33 hz,did the 3 ft or the 2.25 ft box work better in your opinion

we tested extensively with the 9515s 3 years ago and settled on building them basically as my personal one is-

9.333 for 3 of them tuned to just over 30

i try to just use that data to guess on the 10s and 12s

thta provided the most linear/loudest result

alright,so ive got my mind set on a 3.1 cubic feet box tuned to about 32 hz,basically like expos,does any1 know if i should b using 3/4 in wood,1 inch wood,or double stacked 3.4 in wood,i dont know the size of the wood i got right now since i got i from a shop

i'd double stack 3/4 on all the sides that is reasonable for

don't know the dimensions of the box you will build etc.- but any large and not incredibly braced side should be at least 1" (and double 3/4 is what i do in that case since 1" is harder to find- dunno for you on that)

however, if you have a port piece that is like 4" by 14 or something- not gonna need to be that thick/braced

im thinking my box will be 13" high,24" wide,and 17.2" long with double stacked 3/4" wood,now i just gotta calculate the port size i need
