i have a guy i know that is going to be going head to head with me in a spl competition. just me vs him. i have 2 tantric hdd12s on a sundown saz5000 and a bunch of electrical.

my problem. he told me he is going to be running 12k watts rms. he only has a 180a alt he does have 5 batteries coming not sure what kind but he told me hes getting 5. he has 2 mtx9500 series 15 and 2 mtx 9500 series 10s that he will be competing with. is there any way that hes subs that he has can push 12k watts between the 4 of them when there only rated at 1k watts rms a piece.

i also dont see how he can push that much power. i have 3 g31 d3400 xs powers and a f24 xs power under the hood. 4 runs power 4 ground a mechman h.o alt 240a (soon to be singer 320a 6 stage hairpin running at 15v) in a 5.5 cu foot ported box tuned to 35hz with an adjustable port so i can tune it to 45 for competitions.

i dont know a great amount of car audio but i just can see that working out for him. he also has 5 mtx amps.

if anyone can help me i would appreciate it. i wana put 100 bucks on the match but i dont wana fn lose to some mtx's subs.

thanks

He's got a lot more cone area than you do... I don't know if would've bet that money if I were you. 2 15" 9500's by themselves are capable of pretty good #'s... I've seen enough in person to know they put in some work!

The 9500s arent spl drivers they are 2 layer 4"coil subs ...they will not take that power unless hes running some bullshit amp

You are correct sir but they can and do get loud. And yeah, they aren't going to take 6000 a pc. lol! But with the right electrical in the right box, with the right power will the 9500's beat the HDD's? I don't know enough about SPL or competitions but I do know 2 15's is quite a bit more cone area than 2 12's.

Yeah never a good idea running different size subs. Thread after thread after thread on that subject. Lol! I've seen and heard a few different setups with the 9500's. They're pretty impressive. I just never thought they were worth the money. Kind of like the w7. No one disputes it's an excellent subwoofer but to spend that much scratch on a BNIB w7 from a website or a store is insane!

What kinda car does he have? And u?
i have a 98 lexus es 300 im basically walling off my trunk and already took that back seats out. its going to have an external port on it facing in the cabin. and my thing is i dont thnk that 5 batteries and a h.o alt will power 12k and he has 5 mtx amps. bet there not very effiecient

i realize he has more cone area by alot but tantrics have a huge amount of excursion as well. i just dont see him having enough power to get those to do what he wants. that means hes putting 3k a piece to a woofer rated at 1k watts rms

man dont hate on the low rms rating on the mtx subs. i dont see why everyone up here doesnt know this. the 9500 series are some bad subs. 4" coils fyi. my 8500's were hands down my favorite subs i ever owned. lol newb comment not wanting to lose to "some mtx subs" good luck id love to hear the outcome. i think you will lose if he has any idea what he is doing at all

yeah well i would rather not lose to some mtx subwoofers. if he has true 12k watts and i did win it would be rediculous. n so ur telling me that they are underrated by 2k watts. for how cheap they could be had why the fcuk is everyone not running them than?

those 9500's can take 2k all day a piece probably more. i put 1500rms to my single 8500 12. doesnt matter they can get loud. when will we hear about the results? please pm me when it goes down

Yes like i already said they are very weak as far as 4" coil subs go only 2 layer but then again they arent a spl oriented sub at all.they sound good and can get loud..ive seen and played with many ..they sound great..but this guy shoving a pair of 15d and 10s in one build with 5 amps ..makes me think he proly doesnt have a fvcking clue what hes doin

No the rms isnt that underrated on them . They only have 2layer coil and very soft suspension ..they cant take alot of power but like i saod they dont need alot to get moving and moderatly loud

they are not spl subs and when they first came out they were not cheap. secondly i am saying yes i think he could burp them with the amps he is using and i say that because he wont be seeing full power out of the amp. and stop hating on a company who has been out forever and done a lot for car audio. just because it is not your cup of tea doesnt mean that thjey ****. i see why i quit coming here. bunch of young minded kids who have tons of power but dont know anything at all. ill bet $100 you lose. give me his number or email so i can talk to him. and i want my money when he wins.
